No Dorothy, we most certainly are not in Kansas. “But where are we?” you ask. Over the rainbow of course! We are in Seychelles. “Where?” you reply.  Perhaps you have never heard of this oasis, for it is in the middle of nowhere and on the other side of the world. Located almost 1,000 miles off of the east coast of Africa this archipelago of 115 islands floats in the middle of the Indian Ocean; far, far away from civilization as we know it. It is surrounded by crystal blue waters, warm trade winds and coral atolls. How intriguing!  Oh if only to be swept away to this paradise in the sun! Yes, take me away to Seychelles.

Oh what would I do first in the remote tropical splendor of Round Island Praslin?  Just to relax and unwind on a tranquil beach without a care in the world would be necessary after the long journey. And Seychelles has amazingly beautiful beaches!  After enough sun soaking and pool dipping some adventure is in order.

Seychelles is blessed with year round trade winds varying from 8-20 knots. That is music to the ears of this sailor. A boat charter is definitely in order. What better way to explore the many islands and what fun to spend a few hours in a private hidden cove.  Though some may choose to snorkel, you will find me 80 feet under, diving into the underwater wonderland of wrecks and coral gardens. Sharks and rays and grouper-oh my!

There may be no place like home, but then again, there’s no place like the Seychelles.

Take me away to Greece. Land of sun and fun and sea.  Land of whitewash walls, rocky cliffs and sandy beaches. Land of brilliant blues-azure, sapphire, cerulean, cyan and aquamarine. I can relax by day and kick up my heels at night.

An oasis in the sun, the resort of Cavo Tagoo has 80 rooms all built into the cliffs.  All have Jacuzzis; some also have four poster beds and private plunge pools.  The rooms, suites and villas are resplendently Greek in style; minimalistic yet this resort is oh so hip.  Did I mention they have a delectable spa?  By day you will find me at the saltwater infinity pool, perhaps tanning on one of the daybeds with a cold cocktail.  Later I will be sipping a cool drink and enjoying a delicious meal at the open air restaurant. Oh how I love to dine outdoors!  Late in the night I shall hop on the scooter for a quick jaunt into town for some Ouzo and dancing. Opah!

Take me away to Indonesia’s infamous island of Bali where it is lush and green, tropical and serene. I can be Zen-like and have not a care in the world.  Verdant green mountainsides abound and this boutique hotel is perched right on top. The wrap around decks on the Ayung River Villas have stunning views overlooking the gorge.  The small resort of Alila Ubud has just over 60 rooms is renowned for it’s spa and infinity pool (you will actually feel as if you are about to cascade down to the valley below).  The pool is just so inviting. Yes, you will find me in the pool unless I venture out to enjoy the other highlights including available mountain bikes`and nearby treks into the forest. Another plus-the Alila Ubud is Eco-friendly.
